UNI-Africa eFuture, bringing websites to unions in Africa .
The Concept in a few words…
To date, only 5% of UNI-Africa affiliates have websites, mainly due to lack of trained resources and others discouraged by expensive hosting packages with local internet service providers.
Many unions have demanded for assistance from UNI in hosting and creating/maintaining an online presence, which is why the UNI-Africa eFuture project was imagined.
UNI will hold the first Communicators’ Forum to take place in Africa, this coming 9-11 April 2008, in Cape Town – South Africa. During the forum, we will train 16 unions from 13 countries in Africa to manage their new free websites independently. Back home, they will share their new skills with other staff members and start publishing content on their websites as well as market their sites to their members and the general public.
UNI will offer the hosting of the sites and software development, and Comfia CCOO in Spain will provide technical support. One of our funding organisations will grant travel and accommodation funds to the 16 participants for them to get the necessary training in Cape Town during the Communicators’ Forum, which will also integrate these new communicators in the existing UNI network.
The project will be evaluated in 2009 and 2010 and if it proves successful, UNI will see how it can be expanded to other UNI- Africa unions.

Le concept en quelques mots…
A ce jour, seuls 5% des affiliés d’UNI-Africa ont un site web, principalement parce qu’ils manquent de personnel formé ou sont découragés par les coûts élevés des forfaits proposés par les hébergeurs locaux de services internet. De nombreux syndicats ont demandé l’assistance d’UNI pour héberger et créer/tenir à jour une présence en ligne, c’est la raison pour laquelle le projet UNI-Africa e-Future a vu le jour.
UNI organisera le premier Forum des communicateurs à de tenir en Afrique, du 9 au 11 avril 2008 au Cap, Afrique du Sud. Au cours de ce forum, nous formerons 16 syndicats de 13 pays d’Afrique pour leur permettre de gérer indépendamment leur tout nouveau site web gratuit.
De retour chez eux, les participants partageront leurs nouvelles compétences avec d’autres membres du personnel, commenceront à publier des contenus sur leur site web et feront connaître leur site à leurs membres et au grand public. UNI offrira l’hébergement des sites et l’élaboration du logiciel, et Comfia CC.OO, Espagne fournira le soutien technique.
L’une de nos organisations donatrices financera le voyage et le logement des 16 participants pour leur permettre de suivre la formation au Cap pendant le Forum des communicateurs, qui intégrera également ces nouveaux communicateurs dans le réseau actuel d’UNI.
Le projet sera évalué en 2009 et en 2010 et s’il s’avère fructueux, UNI envisagera de l’étendre à d’autres syndicats d’UNI- Africa.
