Established in Kampala, Uganda since 1938, Amalgamated Transport and General Workers' Union (ATGWU - Uganda) is responsible for organising and representing its members in the Transport, Oils, Chemical and Private Security Industries. It is a trade union with a proven track record in handling labour related issues for its members. ATGWU was later re-rigesterd in 1974 after merging with other unions. It is affiliated to Global Unions like International Transport Workers Federation (ITF), Union Network International (UNI) and also locally affiliated to the National Organisation of Trade union Uganda (NOTU). Identity of ATGWU
Amalgamated Transport and General Workers' Union (ATGWU) is a free autonomous, democratic and voluntary organisation formed, owned and run by workers in accordance with the provisions of its own constitution.
Location
The Head office is located at Plot 1066 Sepiruya Mukasa Road - Luzira, off Port Bell Road and opposite Bishop Ciprian Kihangire SSS, with a branch office at Entebbe International Airport.

Membership eligibility.
Membership of the union is open, without discrimination to all the workers within the jurisdiction of the listed trade and industries. Any worker employed in the above listed trades and industries is eligible and free to join ATGWU on signing a declaration form found on this website.
