The Uganda Liaison Council (ULC) held their first meeting for the year 2009 on 4th February at the UCEAU offices.  During the council meeting the Hotels Union made its maiden participation as a new UNI affiliate.  The ULC welcomed the new UNI affiliate and also discussed on a number of issues.
However, the most topical issue was the legal persona of liaison councils since they are not mentioned any where in the UNI Africa statutory instrument.  After some discussions it was resolved that  a motion be moved and submitted to UNI Africa regional secretariat  for its consideration at the Regional conference.  It was suggested that the liaison councils should have formal recognition within the Africa instrument and structures.
The next meeting will be held on 8th April and it will be hosted by Hotels union.
