RESTRUCTURING

The realities on ground informed the Postal Reform currently going on in Nigerian Postal Service and the Bureau for Public Enterprise (BPE) has commissioned Consultants from Netherland (Nether Post) to study the Nigerian Postal System and come up with a Postal Sector Reform Bill among others which will provide an appropriate structural design and legal framework for the implementation of the Reform program.

The main objectives of the Reform are clearly listed below:

OBJECTIVES OF THE POSTAL REFORM PROGRAM

  1. To grant the Postal sector sufficient autonomy to run its own affairs
  2. Provision of quality services which support the Universal Service Obligation (USO)
  3. Guarantee economic viability of the public postal Operator
  4. Separation between Operators, Regulator and Policy Maker
  5. Achieve quality standards similar to best international practice
  6. Ensure an open liberalized market with equal opportunity for all Competitors
  7. Ensure that the population has access to services according to the technological evolution of the Postal service.
